About the Teacher
I am a professional librarian and a professional genealogist. I was graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Master of Library and Information Studies in May 2008, and I was certified by the Board for Certification of Genealogists in 1998. I am working toward renewal of my certification which expired Feb. 24, 2013.
I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma not far from where I live now. I work for the Tulsa City-County Library as Assistant Manager of the Hardesty Regional Library. I was previously a Library Associate at TCCL’s Genealogy Center and prior to that I was a genealogy volunteer. I have attended many national genealogy conferences and the Institute for Genealogy and Historical Research at Samford University in 1995 and 1996, completing the Intermediate Genealogy and Advanced Methodology courses. In September 2011 I attended the Regional In-depth Genealogical Studies Alliance at the National Archives facility in Fort Worth, Texas. I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists.
I have presented programs for the Tulsa City-County Library, the Tulsa Genealogical Society, Tulsa Community College, the Cherokee Heritage Center, and other groups, as well as a multiple-week course for the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church’s School of Continuing Education. I presented two of my lectures at the 2009 Federation of Genealogical Societies’ Annual Conference held in Little Rock, Arkansas in September, 2009, and three of my lectures at the 2012 Federation of Genealogical Societies’ Conference held in Birmingham, Alabama.
